One of the many perks of being part of the myfoodbook team is the chance to review amazing appliances!
This week we took the new KitchenAid Sparkling Beverage Maker for a spin. If you’re a fan of carbonated drinks and can’t resist the sleek, stylish appliances that KitchenAid are best known for, then this one is for you. After all, who doesn’t love a gorgeous appliance taking pride of place on the kitchen bench?
The KitchenAid Sparkling Beverage Maker, powered by SodaStream is a sophisticated gadget that gives you the technology to make bubbles to your hearts content – mineral waters, soft drinks and carbonated beverages, all within seconds and right on your own kitchen bench.
How to use the KitchenAid Sparkling Beverage Maker:
Opening the box and unwrapping the device was met with collective “oohs” and “ahhs” from the team. After all, it’s has the signature KitchenAid sleek design that we all love.
After a few moments working out which parts go where, we were on our way to carbonated glory. You simply fill the bottle with water, attach to the stand, and pull the lever until you’ve got your desired carbonation level.
In fact, the pull lever gives four carbonation level options, from lightly sparkling right through to maximum bubbles. The retro dial tells you which level you have reached so it’s nice and easy to navigate.
Once the carbonation was underway, we decided to start experimenting with flavour. We used good old Schweppes Cordial in Raspberry and Lime Juice for a tangy addition. We took the drinks one step further by adding garnishes for extra flavour and texture.
Our creations included:
- Raspberry and Mint – Raspberry cordial, a handful of fresh raspberries and mint leaves, topped with soda water.
- Citrus Twist – Lemon, lime and orange slices mixed with a dash of Lime Juice cordial, and topped with soda water.
- Pink Rose – A few drops of rose water, a dash of Raspberry cordial, soda water and garnished with rose petals and vanilla bean.
- Green Tea and Honey – freshly brewed green tea sweetened with honey, and garnished with mint and fresh lime and topped with soda water.
How to create a sparkling beverage creation
We found the best way to build the drinks was to start with the cordial and fruit in the bottom of the glass, fill the glass with ice, top with your carbonated water and finish with a garnish. In fact, the secret to a great mixed drink is plenty of ice, so fill it right up to avoid a watery beverage 5 minutes later.
Sparkling beverage perfect for entertaining
If you’re a regular dinner party or children’s party host, this appliance would be so handy – you can produce cocktails and mixers for your dinner guests and oodles of fizzy drinks for the kids! Plus you get to control the amount of sugar and flavouring that goes in. Gotta love that.
Sparkling soda water for cooking
Having home made soda water on hand is great for your cooking too, creating lighter and fluffier muffins, breads, batters and pancakes. Lemonade scones anyone?
And – as with all KitchenAid products – it’s so stylish! If you already have a KitchenAid stand mixer or blender, by now you’ll be thinking about coordinating your appliances. The Sparkling Beverage Maker comes in red or black.
Our verdict: The KitchenAid Sparkling Beverage Maker is great if you want to make sparkling drinks for yourself at home, and do so with a very pretty machine. Bring on the bubbles we say!
