A staple in many households, rice is an extremely versatile ingredient that comes in many forms and has appeared in dishes around the world for thousands of years. Be it a sweet rice pudding, a savoury rice-based dinner – think risotto, fried rice and rice cakes – or a tasty rice slice for your weekday lunches, there are limitless ways to include rice recipes in your weekly menu plans.

An ideal ingredient to have in the pantry during every season, rice is great for summer salads and perfect for warming wintry dishes too. Whether you prefer a brown, white, mixed or wild variety (either short, medium or long grain) rice is a fantastic ingredient to include in gluten-free dishes. And, this simple ingredient presents the perfect opportunity to get creative in the kitchen.

We’ve rounded up a tempting range of creative rice recipes so delicious you’ll be fending off thieving hands from the kitchen bench! We’ve used SunRice and John West ingredients to create these magnificent meals and desserts, both household names of which are helping to fight hunger as part of FoodBank’s Shop & Share campaign during July 2017.
