Eggsellence Awards – Nominate your favourite restaurant or cafe

Get cracking Australia! Nominate your favourite restaurant or cafe’s egg dish in the Australian Eggsellence Awards for your chance to win big!

Australian Eggs has launched a national campaign to uncover Australia’s best egg dish on World Egg Day on Friday 12th October. The first ever Australian Eggsellence Awards asks Aussies to nominate their favourite restaurant and give the restaurant or cafe the chance to cook their dish for a panel of acclaimed judges including celebrity chef Manu Feildel, and restaurant critics Anthony Huckstep and Elizabeth Meryment.

How can I enter the ‘eggsellent’ egg dish at my favourite cafe?

Until September 30, Australians nationwide can submit an egg dish that has stood out to them as being creative, beautifully presented or for knocking out their tastebuds. The head chef from each of the restaurants nominated will be put in the running to be shortlisted to a top five.

On World Egg Day, the chefs of the shortlisted five dishes will battle it out for the winning title of the Australian Eggsellence Awards 2018 in a live cook-off in Sydney. The public will be invited to taste the dishes alongside the official judges.

Simply share a photo on Instagram using #EggsellenceAwards and tag the restaurant location or submit online at before Sunday 30th September.

I hear there’s an ‘eggsellent’ inducement to enter

There certainly is. As well as getting your local cafe or restaurant instant cred and a claim to fame, egg lovers who nominate their favourite dish will have the chance to win a whopping $1,000!

Rowan McMonnies, Managing Director at Australian Eggs, says: “With Australians eating nearly 17 million eggs every day it’s exciting to embark on this journey to find Australia’s best egg dish. The rise of café culture and food fashion has changed perceptions of how and when eggs can be eaten so we are expecting a stream of nominations from across Australia”

“Eggs are a big part of our culture, from eating egg soldiers as children to making the grandchildren’s birthday cake, we consume them almost every day. As we launch the Australian Eggsellence Awards we want to hear about everything from simple eggs on toast to inspired new egg creations; so get nominating!”
