Three-layer Magic Custard Cake

The Magic Custard Cake has become quite the trend across the web, and we found out exactly why when we had a go at making it. This glorious cake quite literally separates one batter into three distinct layers. One layer of dense vanilla custard, one of sticky and soft custard and the base, a light sponge.

Despite looking incredibly impressive, this recipe is simple to make. Inspired by The Dairy Kitchen Beesting Cake, we had a go at making this version in the new Breville Bakery Boss Stand Mixer.

A recipe we think any passionate cook would marvel in making, this magic cake is a vision when served with fresh strawberries and dusting of icing sugar. Learn how to make  the three layer Custard Cake in our recipe video above.
